As a Clinician-Scientist at CPC Clinical Research, Dr. Capell provides support for all stages of clinical studies from conception to design, execution, analysis and reporting. Dr. Capell also serves as CPC’s Committee Management Lead where he has developed a seamless process for managing large outcome Adjudication Committees. Dr. Capell’s unique blend of clinical knowledge, clinical trial research experience, regulatory expertise and ability to evaluate and improve complex systems and processes is invaluable to CPC and to all of the partners we work with.
He has over 8 years of experience with the Colorado Multiple Institutional Review Board (COMIRB), where he served the last 4 years as Director. In this role he combined his regulatory expertise, clinical background and operational skills resulting in policy and guidance updates and a renewed focus on research community engagement. He was also responsible for mentoring Investigators and finding the most ethical and regulatory compliant way to conduct clinical research.
Dr. Capell also serves as Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus School of Medicine Department of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology. In addition to his experience with clinical research, Dr. Capell also has a background in Endocrinology where he has participated in, and published, both clinical and basic science research in lipid metabolism.
